Dr. Athanasios Kokkas is a board eligible prosthodontist. Originally trained in Thessaloniki, Greece at
Aristotle University, Dental School. He served for two years as a general dentist in the Greek Air
Force.
Dr. Kokkas went on to graduate from the University of Alabama, Dental School, Department of
Prosthodontics, from the Advanced Prosthodontics Program, and after that from the Maxillofacial
Prosthetics program, UAB Hospital, as a chief resident.
He then completed a year long fellowship at the prestigious Maxillofacial Prosthetics clinic, of UCLA,
Los Angeles, under the guidance of Dr. John Beumer, a pioneer in implant dentistry and dental
oncology.
Dr. Kokkas returned to UAB Hospital for one year training as a Hospital Dentist, at the GPR program, as
a chief resident.
He then served as an Assistant Professor in the department of Restorative Dentistry, UAB dental school, Assistant professor of medicine, in the department of Oncology and head of the Maxillofacial Prosthetics Residency program, UAB hospital for 6 years.
Dr. Kokkas is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics and the International Society of Maxillofacial Rehabilitation.
He has had the privilege of giving multiple national and international presentations on dental implants
and rehabilitation of complicated cosmetic and facial trauma patients.
He is also a trained dental laboratory technician.
In his free time, Dr. Kokkas prefers to attend continuing education dental seminars, be with his family, bike and fly airplanes. He has a commercial pilot's license and volunteers with Mercy Flight Southeast. He was also a champion of free style wrestling in Greece, and a member of the pre-national team.
Dr. Sheikh was born in India, migrating with his family at eight-years-old. He spent the majority of his life in Miami, where he completed his undergraduate studies. Dr. Sheikh decided to move to Boston for dental school, graduating from Tufts University School of Dentistry. Dr. Sheikh now calls Tampa his home! He and his wife are full-time residents and have three children.
To continue his education, Dr. Sheikh regularly attends seminars and conferences devoted to aesthetic
dentistry, implant dentistry, technology, and general dental care. Dr. Sheikh is committed to a standard
of excellence, driven by his desire to continue learning as time and technology advances. Clients of Dr.
Sheikh will receive the latest advancements in cosmetic dentistry including: Invisalign, Clear Correct,
Veneers, Zoom Whitening, laser treatments, tooth-colored fillings, root canals, crowns/bridges,
implants, partials, and oral surgery.
When he’s not working, Dr. Sheikh enjoys volunteering his dental services for numerous organizations.He
loves spending time with his family, watching football, and can cook up a mean barbecue!
